Sector Skills Development
and Industry Placement

Skills Development in South Africa is governed under the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998, which has subsequently been amended several times. The national government’s Department of Higher Education and Training is responsible for managing and developing all higher education and skills development training.

We are focused towards building a skilled workforce in Gauteng, this is done through initiatives such as in-service training, Internships, learnerships, apprenticeship and permanent job placements.

GTMI engages with the technical and engineering services industry to ensure that all apprentices get the necessary practical experience and exposure to enable them to optimise opportunities available within the technical manufacturing industry and government investment programmes.
